Margaret Howell

has been designing contemporary, timeless clothes for both men and women since she opened her first design studio in Blackheath, London in 1970. She uses modern designs, teamed with traditional fabrics to produce clothes, which improve with age while still maintaining a youthful edge. Renowned for her shirting, the company still source the majority of their fabrics and manufacture their shirting and knitwear in the UK, with which she works with renowned English knitwear designer John Smedley. Margaret Howell also produces the work-wear inspired line MHL, which uses natural fabrics, laundered washes and utility shapes to complement her main line collection.

Margaret Howell epitomizes exactly what we’re trying to achieve with our store. Her use of beautiful, traditional fabrics, understated style and simplicity of design is everything we love about clothes today. Sadly, designers who refuse to compromise on quality and still manufacture clothes in the UK are now a rarity within fashion, Margaret Howell is the very best of this dying breed.
